Artistic Merit Rewarded Across Regional WA

Member for O’Connor Rick Wilson MP has welcomed a strong showing from local organisations in the latest round of Regional Arts Fund Project Grants, with several community groups across the electorate securing support for important projects.

Mr Wilson said it was encouraging to see local groups putting forward competitive applications that reflect the needs and priorities of their communities.

“O’Connor is full of people who step up for their communities, and it’s great to see that effort recognised,” Mr Wilson said.

“My office has worked closely with countless community organisations over the years, and it’s always rewarding to see local groups secure the support they need to deliver for their communities.”

Successful recipients include:

• Country Music Muster Boyup Brook WA Inc, Boyup Brook Country Music Muster 2027, Boyup Brook - $30,000

• Emily O’Brien, The Girl with the Colourful Mind, Albany - $30,000

• Wagyl Kaip Southern Noongar Aboriginal Corporation, Every Stitch Holds Country: A First Nations Community Quilt for Carrolup, Albany - $30,000

• Southern Forest Arts, 2026 WA Regional Visual Arts Summit – Travel Bursaries, Northcliffe - $30,000

• Leith Alexander, Sheds: Stories from the Shearing Shed, Narrogin - $19,306

• Neville Talbot, Conducting Mentoring Program, Albany $5,800

Mr Wilson said the funded projects would strengthen local facilities, support volunteers and deliver lasting benefits for regional communities.
He also encouraged local groups to keep an eye out for upcoming opportunities, with the next round of Regional Arts Fund Project Grants opening across all states and territories in July 2026.

“There are always new opportunities becoming available, and I’d encourage community groups to apply. Please feel free to contact our office, as I am always happy to provide my support for applications,” he said.
